A case of treatment of bilateral congenital dislocation of the patella

Abstract
Auther reported here a case of bilateral congenital dislocation of the patella and the operation has been respectively performed by Krogius and Conn¢¥s method for comparison.
Congential dislocation of the patella is often familial, often bilateral, and is only associated with other anomalies. As I mention as follows, there is abnormality of Quadriceps extensor mechanism and is often Vastus medialis portion which may be absent, or the Quadriceps femoris may be present but infantile.
In this case, fortunately, the patient has only abnormality of Quadriceps extensor mechanism.
Therefor, we have choiced the method of Conn¢¥s operative reduction on the right side which has proved satisfactory result by Conn¢¥s method.
On the left side, we have taken a Krogius method which was described by Krogius. Also both of them are based upon a principle of the myotendo-plastic measure.
Additionally, we have also performed a transplantation of the tibial tubercle in the both sides.
Early exercise instituded by physio-therapist with good result. After 4 months of the post-operation, X-ray reveals the patella is normally placed in Quadriceps mechanism and the transplanted tibial tubercle also nicely fused.
My experience is that the methods are rather easy to perform and good indication for the cases of abnormality of Quadriceps extensor mechanism without subsequent complications.
